Francesc Gòdia is full Professor of Chemical Engineering and vice-Rector at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where he has developed all his academic work. His main field of research is Biochemical Engineering, particularly animal cell technology, bioreactor and bioprocess design and operation, cel.lular and tissue engineering, and biological life support in Space.
He is author of about 60 research papers and advisor of 14 PhD thesis. He is member of the Executive Committee of the European Society for Animal Cell Technology, and President of the Sociedad Española de Biotecnología, SEBIOT. He is also the manager for the Spanish Regional Branch Office of the EFB, and an active member of the EFB Executive Board.
