Since 2003 also Head of the School of Bioengineering, University of Applied Sciences FH-Campus Vienna.

Research interests: Microbial Biotechnology, esp. production of recombinant proteins and metabolites with bacteria and yeasts. Physiology and engineering of cell factories with an emphasis on protein secretion and stress resistance.

Over 60 papers published in peer reviewed journals and numerous patents. Manging editor of Microbial Cell Factories, co-editor of FEMS Microbiology Letters. Secretary of the EFB Section on Microbial Physiology, member of the Austrian Society of Biotechnology.
