Task Groups

Apart from the Sections, the Task Groups are responsible for the Federation's main scientific activities. While Sections are devoted to a particular field of biotechnology, Task Groups cover topics of wide and interdisciplinary interest.

Membership of a Task Group is by invitation only - interested persons should contact the respective Task Group Chairman.

The main activities of the Task Groups are:

  • to promote international cooperation with China (EFBIC), South East Asia, Eastern Europe and South America, with a particular interest for Europe's responsibilities towards developing countries (EAGLES)
  • to initiate and/or organise specialised meetings and to be involved in the planning of the European Congresses on Biotechnology (ECB)
  • to promote education and training
  • to prepare position papers, reviews and expertises on topical issues
  • to publish on new developments in science and on new application
  • to collaborate as teams of experts with the European Commission in research funding
