Germs and antibiotic resistance - a topic that affects us all

Philippe Corvini, EFB Vice-President and Chairman of the Section on Environmental Biotechnology, organised with his colleague Thomas Wintgens the one-day event from the series of water technology sponsored by BaselArea and the School of Life Sciences of the Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz (HLS FHNW).

The meeting in Basel on 25 October 2016 focused on "germs, antibiotic resistance and disinfection in water systems".

6th Central European Congress of Life Sciences - EUROBIOTECH

As a follow-up to our successful joint Congress as part of ECB2016 last July, EFB would like to invite you to the 6th EUROBIOTECH Congress.

EUROBIOTECH will focus on Bioeconomy by dealing with different biosciences' perspectives in order to answer key questions about their state of play and future potential.

Prof. Emmanuelle Charpentier (CRISPR Technology) and two Nobel Prize winners will be presenting: Prof. Ada Yonath (structure of Ribosomes), and Prof. Robert Huber (determination of the three-dimensional structure of a photosynthetic reaction centre).

Call for papers on biotechnology − Microbiology Society's journal

The Microbiology Society's journal, Microbiology, is currently inviting submissions in the field of biotechnology. The Society welcomes articles that utilise microbial systems to develop technologies and products that could improve our lives or our environment. Topics for invited papers include: metabolic engineering; genetic engineering; metabolomics; synthetic biology; and protein engineering. Highlights in Medicinal Chemistry II

This meeting aims to showcase vignettes of modern medicinal chemistry to bring new thinking to the subject, challenge perceptions and encourage scientific interaction between researchers. The short presentation format of the meeting also aims to provide a focused forum to promote examples of medicinal chemistry excellence.
