The Bern Debates started in 1999 as a simple clipping service to a few friends, and grew out into a circulation system with more than 1500 addresses. Sometimes a hefty debate was waged by spontaneous contributors, almost all distributed by the moderator, Prof. Klaus Ammann, without censorship. All contributions contain also freely applied personal comments of the moderator.

One of the main features was the scientific documentation for all the issues, as well as a certain openness for other views - as long as they were based on sound science.
